SnipSnip generate automatic file names based on time and
date.

The following patterns are supported by SnipSnip:

            two-digit number.

Frequently asked questions
------------------------------------------------------------

Question:
I hid my menu bar and now I can't remember any of the
keyboard shortcuts. How can I make the menu bar
    reappear?

Answer:
When the menu bar is hidden, you can press the Alt key
to show it temporarily. If you want to turn it back on
permanently, either press the Alt key and click Menu
Bar in the View menu, or press Shift + Alt + M.

Question:
When I try and capture a video file that's playing,
SnipSnip instead shows a black box where the video file
should be. What's up with that?

Answer:
Taking screen captures of video playback is currently
    not supported.

Question:
When I do full screen captures, the SnipSnip window
appears either fully or partially in the capture. At
other times, when I do captures of dialog boxes or
specific programs, some of the text does not show up.
    How can I fix this?

Answer:
Click "Edit", then "Options..." (or just Shift + Alt +
    O) and increase the "Anti-flicker (milliseconds)" value.
This allows the operating system more time to redraw all
the windows on the desktop after the SnipSnip window (or
transparent overlay) is hidden and SnipSnip captures the
    image.

Known issues in this version
------------------------------------------------------------

 - If you draw outside of the capture, but inside the
picture box, an undo state is added (and it shouldn't)

 -  December 11, 2009 -> Version 1.0.2717.1411

    Stable release.

    New features in this release:
      * None

    Changes in this release:
      * If you are using the [i] auto save pattern, SnipSnip
now replaces the tag with the appropriate increment
when viewing the "Save as..." dialog, rather then
waiting to replace it until after the dialog closes
      * "Full screen capture" delay has been renamed to
"Anti-Flicker", and now applies to all capturing
modes and not just to full screen captures
      * Some optimizations to "Capture Area" code to make it
        more responsive and less flickery
      * Window highlighting when using Aero is now disabled
        to avoid aweful drawing artifacts
      * When running a newer version of SnipSnip for the
first time, SnipSnip now automatically imports your
        old settings rather than asking
      * Some UI changes to better comply with Microsofts
        Windows UX Guidelines
      * Major code cleanup

    Fixes in this release:
      * Fixed a bug where SnipSnip would crash if capturing
an area with a height and/or width of zero pixels
when using the Capture Area method
      * Fixed a bug where SnipSnip would capture outside the
area of a monitor when capturing a full screen
window using "Capture window", resulting in the
capture being off center and with a blue border
      * Fixed a bug where "Capture Area" would wait for the
user to select an area, but not actually allow the
user to do so, after setting the "Capture Overlay
        Color" to Fuchsia (#FF00FF)
      * Fixed a similar bug where the background color of
the window description for"Capture Object" and
"Capture Window" was transparent if the color
Fuchsia was selected for "Capture Object/Window
        Highlight Color"
      * Fixed a bug where pressing "OK" immediately after
pressing "Reset to defaults" in the options dialog
would cause SnipSnip to display an error message
        about the default save path
      * Fixed a bug where SnipSnip would allow you to "draw"
with a pen outside of the image borders, but inside
the capture box, resulting in a new undo state added
even though there were no changes to the capture
      * Removed some continuous capture settings from the
user settings file, since SnipSnip does not have a
        continous capture feature
      * Fixed a bug where capturing windows and object when
Aero was enabled would sometimes cause artifacts and
black boxes in parts of the capture
      * Fixed a bug where "Capture Mouse Cursor" and
"Capture Layered Windows" would not be checked, even
if the setting was active, after upgrading to a new
        version of SnipSnip
      * Fixed a bunch of save related oddities with file
        names, paths and formats

 -  September 18, 2009 -> Version 1.0.2423.831

    Beta bug fix release.

    New features in this release:
      * None

    Changes in this release:
      * If you have saved a capture once, the "Save as..."
dialog box now uses your last selected image format,
        rather than the default format
      * If you have saved a capture once, the "Save as..."
dialog box now uses your last selected location,
        rather than the default location

    Fixes in this release:
      * Fixed the accuracy of the Crop tool so that it cuts
where the dotted line actually is, instead of a
couple of pixels away from it
      * Fixed bug where SnipSnip would claim that the
directory does not exist when entering the options
dialog for the first time and then immediately
        clicking "OK"
      * Fixed bug where SnipSnip would sometimes pick C:\ as
a default directory, instead of the users Documents
folder, when the user used "Save as..." instead of
        the "Save" option
      * Fixed a bug where SnipSnip would append the file
extension in the "Save as..." dialog box, resulting
in files sometimes being saved in the chosen format,
but with the incorrect file extension
      * Fixed a bug where SnipSnip would think a new capture
already had a filename and path when using "Save",
even if it didn't, when the "Save as..." dialog had
previously been opened and then cancelled
      * Removed "Continuous captures" delay option from
option dialog, because there is no Continuous
        capture feature
